Citizen of the Year

Danny Hawkins is an Arab institution. He’s a lifelong resident, former athlete, longtime Pee-Wee football coach, baseball coach, barber and all-around good guy.

Now, he can add Citizen of the Year to his resume.

Hawkins was named the Outstanding Citizen of Achievement winner at Thursday night’s Arab Chamber of Commerce annual banquet.

The Chamber also named Marshall Medical Center North as industry of the year and Premier Family Care as business of the year. Those stories are planned for Wednesday’s paper.

His granddaughter, Eliza Trammell, presented the award.
