A Hancveille man led Arab police on a chase Sunday night before being arrested.

Christopher Shaun Andrew Bell, 30, was pulled over on Eighth Avenue at Guntersville Road for a minor traffic violation about 10:15 p.m.

When the officer asked Bell for his driver’s license, he allegedly replied that he didn’t have a license because it was suspended.

The officer told the man that under Alabama’s Safe Streets Act, he would have to have the vehicle towed since he didn’t have a driver’s license. He then asked Bell to step out of the vehicle.

Bell allegedly replied that he was not getting out and put the vehicle in drive and left at a high rate of speed, according to Arab Assistant Police Chief Shane Washburn.
