Funeral homes and churches are also having to adapt to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funerals are continuing but in a different way than ever before.

Gober Funeral Chapel and Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel are following the guidance from the Alabama Funeral Home board and the Alabama Department of Public Health.

“We’ve canceled visitations,” said Ricky Hallmark, one of the funeral directors at Gober Funeral Chapel. “We’re having private, family visitations only.”

There are no funeral services, either.
