The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles denied early release from prison for Roderick Hinds, 52, of Arab.

His parole hearing was Thursday.

Hinds has been in prison since Sept. 15, 2000. He was sentenced to 21 years for:

• Felon in possession of a firearm – Morgan County;

• Assault second-degree for shooting a man in the leg – Marshall County;

• Trafficking crystal meth – Morgan County;

• Possession of a controlled substance – Cullman County.

The board said it would not reconsider Hinds’ for parole again until July 2023, however, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections, Hinds is scheduled to be released from prison on Feb. 21, 2023.

He is serving his time at the Limestone Correctional Facility near Athens.
