Work will soon begin on Union Chapel Road just north of Arab.
Marshall County District 1 Commissioner Ronny Shumate announced.
The project is expected to cost $575,000.
“We will be repaving Union Chapel Road from U.S. 231 just north of Arab to Union Grove Road – approximately 4.5 miles,” he said. “This work will be using the Rebuild Alabama funding from the Statewide Gas Tax.
“We will be replacing several tiles that are currently in very bad condition,” Shumate said. “These tiles cross under Union Chapel Road in several places.”
He said about 15 tiles will be replaced. After they are placed, they will need to settle for several days before any other work is done.”
The tile work is scheduled to begin June 14.
The Rogers Group from Nashville, Tenn., recently bought out Reed Contracting of Union Grove and it is doing the work.
“I’m hoping The Rogers Group can start the paving project on Union Chapel Road very soon,” he said.
