Concerns with the telephone system at the local post office brought one local resident to the Arab City Council meeting last week, but apparently those concerns were already being addressed.

Russ Elrod, an Arab resident and former city council member, said there have been issues with getting someone to answer the phone for some two years now, and he credited city hall with helping to see improvement.

“Some progress has been made in the last few days,” Elrod said. “Ya’ll have been proactive and I appreciate that, but before we hang out the mission accomplished banner, there are still some ongoing issues.”

Elrod and others say it’s common to get a busy signal or no answer when phoning the post office during business hours.
