The city of Arab and Arab City Schools are discussing turning over to the city the entry to the Arab SportsPlex (new football stadium).

Mayor Bob Joslin said Arab Superintendent John Mullins mentioned to him turning over ownership of Stadium Drive to the city.

The connector road to the Sportsplex, from Old Huntsville Highway to Gilliam Springs Road, is not paved.

“We (the city) didn’t pave it because it doesn’t belong to us and was intended as a driveway for sporting events only,” said Joslin.

“We don’t own the road and if we pave it, it would be like a new subdivision, and we don’t need to do that,” said Councilwoman Renae Warren.
