Christmastime in Arab officially kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday night with the opening of Christmas in the Park. Arab Citizen of the Year 2022 Jane McDonald will “flip the switch.”

More than 2 million Christmas lights will illuminate the park every night through New Year’s Eve.

The Arab High School Jazz band will play Christmas music to kick off the event season.

There is no charge to walk through the park to view and enjoy the lights.

Also, the Arab Historic Village is gearing up for its 12th season of Santa in the Village.

“We have been planning and making changes to better suit the needs of our visitors,” said Arab Park and Rec director Eric Hayes. “We think that these changes will help families get the most out of their visit to our facility.”

The following is a list of events at Santa in the Village:

• Hunt School: Santa will be taking over the school for the holiday season. He plans to meet with families and take note of those special requests.

“We ask that you provide your own device for the photograph, but will provide someone to assist taking those full family pictures,” Hayes said.
