Four Brindlee Mountain area residents received Presidential Lifetime Volunteer Service awards or Presidential Volunteer Service awards from Marshall County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Three others received the Presidential Volunteer Service awards.

In his State of the Union Address in January 2003, President George W. Bush made his “Call to Service,” by asking all Americans to give at least 4,000 hours over the rest of their lives to volunteer service.
