The Alabama Department of Revenue in 2018 changed the decals that go on your auto license plates. Probate offices across the state had to implement the change in calendar year 2018.

The Marshall County Probate Office implemented the change on Dec. 1.

Vehicle owners now will get one decal instead of two. The license plates aren’t changing.

Previously, when you’d renew your tags, you’d get a month decal and a year decal. Now the month, year and your tag number will be printed on one decal.

The previous decals would go on top of the license plate, one on the left, one on the right.

The new decal must be affixed on the right side at the top of the license plate.

The registration, or tag receipt, you get when you renew or purchase a new tag, will also look a little different.
