The Arab area got nearly 3 inches more rain in December than was the 30-year average. Ed Reed at Pine Lake Village measured 9.58 inches for December 2019.

The average prior to December 2019 for the 12th month was 6.64 inches. With December’s 9.58 inches, the new December average is 6.73 inches.

Other Tribune rain watchers measured between 8.17 inches and 12.7 inches.

In December, the other Tribune rain watchers measured:

• 12.7 – Ronny Shumate on Fry Gap Road;

• 8.17 – Greg Claborn in Hopewell;

• 9.42 – Carl Wood in Scant City;

• 10.25 – Charles Whisenant at Allens Crossroads.
