Marshall County Schools and Arab City Schools sent home applications the last weeks of school for free and reduced priced meals.

The National School Lunch Program and National School Breakfast Program helps to subsidize the cost of meals for students whose families are in certain income brackets.

Also, families with foster children could be eligible for free and reduced meals. Others who are eligible are:

• Children in households that receive SNAP benefits;

• Children in Head Start;

• Children who meet the definition requirements for homeless, runaway or migrant.

Even if a student has received free or reduced meals in the past, a new application is required.
