Arab High School athletic practices and other events shut down this week and will remain shut down next week after two student-athletes tested positive for COVID-19.

Neither of the students is sick nor did they have to be hospitalized.

The athletic programs were already scheduled to be shut down next week. AHS principal John Ingram said that happens every years, the week of Independence Day to give the student-athletes a week off for family vacations.

In recent days, student-athletes in Albertville, Guntersville and Boaz have also tested positive for COVID-19.

One student-athlete at Brindlee Mountain High School tested positive, as well, but that student hasn’t been on the campus in several weeks, according to Superintendent Dr. Cindy Wigley.
