In addition to accepting the resignation of general manager Scott Spence on Monday, the Arab Electric Cooperative board of trustees also laid out short-term and long-term plans to replace him.

For the moment, the cooperative will be led by an interim general management team consisting of Spence and AEC employees Chris Burgess, Stacey White and Dianna Walmsley.

Other management team members include supervisors David Ptak, Kellie Garrett, Tammy Stone, Ronnie Jones and Jerry Willis.

Spence’s last day on the job is scheduled to be Aug. 16. Until then, he remains a part of the management team, which will report to the board’s executive committee consisting of president Ty Smith, vice president (and Tribune editor) Charles Whisenant and secretary Dianne Prestridge.

As before, the full board must approve any major action items.

Last week, Spence accepted a position as president and CEO of Duck River Electric Membership Corp. in southern middle Tennessee.
