“Always enjoyed Pastor David’s teachings,” she was thinking as she drove back from her church near Cleveland.
It was a small church, but Alma and her husband, Tommy, had been attending it for quite a few years.
Even though a 30-minute drive from their home in Arab, they always enjoyed the ride over and back.
It gave them time to share some conversation and gave Tommy the opportunity to listen to his favorite country singers (and sing along with them) as he drove.
But today she had to go alone. He had a meeting, so she decided to drive over by herself.
It was a beautiful summer day, and the grass was still that “new green” which is brighter and more beautiful than any other time of the year.
And maybe – just maybe – it was because he wasn’t singing along with all the country music that made Alma’s ride more relaxing.
As she neared the exit to Arab off of 231 North, the truck seemed to “jerk” a little.
Later, she recalled hearing what she could only describe as a “thump.”
