Editor,

The Arab Public Library gets by with a little help from our Friends – actually, we get by with a lot of help from our Friends!

Our Friends of the Library group provides funds as needed for children’s and adult programming, new furniture, contributes funding for new and emerging technology, to help support staff training, the purchase of new books and audio books, and much more.

In addition, the Friends have spent countless hours working to raise money to help support the library.

Oct. 18-24, 2020 is the 14th annual National Friends of Libraries Week, and on behalf of the administration and trustees of Arab Public Library, I would like to give our Friends a big shout out for all they do to make a difference for us every single day.

We know the Friends are always looking for new members and volunteers.

They have so much fun while working to make our community better. It’s easy to join. Just visit the staff at Arab Public Library and pick up a “Friends” brochure.

Be sure to fill out the volunteer application while you’re there. Membership is $10 per year for individuals and $20 per year for families.

The Friends of the Arab Library has a bookstore located in the parking lot adjacent to the library, and it is operated strictly on a volunteer basis.

The hours are 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

The Friends meet on the third Wednesday of each month at the Arab Public Library.

Joining the Friends of the Library is a terrific way to make new friends of your own, and give back to our town and makes its library even better.
